Hanatoro Story
Hanatoro Winery was founded in 2011 in Washington's premier winegrowing region, Walla Walla Valley, by Oregonians, Steve Thomson, Karen Thomson and Kevin Bozada.

Hanatoro is the name and inspiration for our family estate winery. Hanatoro "The path of flowers and light" is a festival of heritage, craftsmanship, and community celebrated each March in the ancient Japanese capital of Kyoto. Beauty, art, and respect for the past are all core values of the Hanatoro festival and synonymous with the honor, energy, and awe-inspiring landscape in the Walla Walla Valley wine industry.

In our hearts, we are hospitality people, having spent our entire careers in restaurants, wineries, hotels and private clubs. Our goal is to produce a world class, single vineyard wine, that is to be shared with family and friends in the hospitality industry.

Hanatoro is an estate bottle Cabernet produced exclusively from our Octave Vineyard in Walla Walla, Washington. We produce a unique micro-site selection of bordeaux varietals in Octave, now in it's 19th leaf. Hanatoro Cabernet is a limited production of 250-300 cases annually.
We are honored to have received many highly-sought accolades such as James Beard awarded cabernet in 2016, Wine & Spirits Best Cabernet in 2017 and multiple 94, 95 and 96 point ratings from Wine Spectator and Wine & Spirits on our various vintages.
