OCTAVE VINEYARD
Octave Vineyard is a 27-acre estate vineyard planted in 2007 through a partnership of six leading Pacific Northwest wine professionals: Norm McKibben, Jean-François Pellet, Justin Wylie, Greg Harrington, MS, Dennis Murphy, and Steve Thomson. From the outset, Octave was conceived as a precision-driven site focused on innovation, sustainability, and long-term vineyard expression.

Located within the SeVein vineyard development on the Oregon side of the Walla Walla AVA, Octave sits at elevations of 1,250–1,350 feet, directly above the historic Seven Hills Vineyard. This elevated position protects the site from damaging freezes while providing exceptional exposure, airflow, and diurnal temperature shifts. The vineyard incorporates extensive trials in row orientation, spacing, and clonal and rootstock selection to optimize balance and quality.

The soils are composed of wind-blown volcanic loess and glacial alluvial silt over fractured basalt, offering excellent drainage and mineral complexity—ideal for world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. Octave Vineyard is bordered by Drew Bledsoe's Doubleback’s estate vineyard and the Figgins family’s Serra Pedace Vineyard, placing it among Walla Walla’s most esteemed sites.

Meticulously farmed with thoughtful stewardship and sustainable practices, Octave Vineyard is allowed to speak with clarity and authenticity. Each vintage captures the nuance of the growing season and the vineyard’s evolving voice, forming the foundation of Hanatoro Winery’s single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and its consistent acclaim from the industries top authorities.
